Red copper and yellow copper
In Moroccan workshops, "red copper" (nhas hmar) is pure copper: warm, rosy, and it darkens naturally into a patina. "Yellow copper" (nhas sfar) is brass, an alloy of copper and zinc: golden in colour, harder, and well suited to engraving. Cuivra uses both, and we always tell you which metal a piece is made of. If a product page does not say, ask us before you order.
How a piece is made
Each piece is cut from metal sheet, shaped and hammered by hand, then engraved by hand with traditional Moroccan motifs, assembled, polished and finished. Because the work is manual, no two pieces are exactly identical; small variations are the mark of handwork, not defects.
For hotels, riads and designers
Cuivra produces in project quantities, with custom sizes, engraving and logos on request. A validation sample is made before production, and pricing is quoted per project. See Corporate Orders or our Company Profile.
Caring for your piece
Wipe with a soft dry cloth. To bring back the shine, use lemon and salt or a copper polish, then rinse and dry well. Copper darkens over time; this patina is natural. Pieces with a gold or silver finish should be cleaned with a soft cloth only, without abrasives.
