Brass Bathroom Accessories: How to Choose a Quality Set
A set of brass accessories can last a lifetime, or tarnish and wear out within a few months. It all depends on quality. Here are the 6 points to check before you buy.
1. Solid brass or simple plating?
Many "gold" accessories are actually zinc or plastic covered with a thin layer of gold color. At the first knock, the layer comes off. A real solid brass accessory feels heavy in the hand and keeps its color even when scratched. Always ask the seller for the exact material.
2. Weight, a good indicator
Brass is a dense metal. A brass soap dispenser weighs noticeably more than a plastic one of the same size. If the price is very low and the weight very light, be careful.
3. Hand engraving or printed pattern?
A hand engraving can be felt under the finger: each line is slightly carved and unique. A printed or molded pattern is perfectly regular and often flat. Pieces engraved by hand by the artisans of Fez keep these small differences that make their charm.
4. A complete set rather than single pieces
Buying pieces one by one from different sellers rarely gives identical shades. A set made by the same workshop guarantees the same color, the same engraving and the same style. Our Signature set brings together six pieces made together.
5. The finish that suits your bathroom
- Yellow brass: warm, ideal with white, wood or zellige.
- Silver finish: more discreet, perfect with chrome taps.
- Red copper: rarer, very warm, it develops a beautiful patina over time.
6. Care
Brass likes water, but not harsh products. A soft cloth and a suitable cleaner are enough to keep its shine. A serious seller should explain how to care for it.
Our advice
For a harmonious result, choose a complete set in solid brass engraved by hand, then complete it with the matching bin and toilet brush. You can also go directly for our bin and toilet brush pack.
