Hand wiping engraved brass bathroom accessories with a soft cloth

How to Clean Brass and Copper Bathroom Accessories Without Damaging Them

In a bathroom, metal lives with water, soap and humidity. Well cared for, brass and copper stay beautiful for decades. Here is the simple routine we recommend to our customers.

Every week: 2 minutes

  1. Wipe each piece with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  2. Dry it right away with a dry microfiber cloth.

Drying is the most important step: it is the drops that dry on the metal that leave marks.

Every month: bring back the shine

Use a cleaner made for copper and brass, or a natural method:

  • Mix lemon juice with a pinch of salt.
  • Rub gently with a soft cloth, following the grain of the metal.
  • Rinse with clean water, then dry thoroughly.

On engraved areas, a soft toothbrush helps clean the patterns without damaging them.

Note: if a piece has a protective lacquer, skip the lemon and salt. Use only water and a mild soap.

What never to do

  • Use bleach or harsh toilet cleaners on the metal.
  • Scrub with an abrasive sponge or steel wool.
  • Leave a piece soaking in soapy water.

What about silver finishes?

Silver finishes need even gentler care: a soft damp cloth, then drying. Avoid lemon and salt, which can wear down the finish over time.

Patina has its own charm

If you like an aged look, you can also let copper develop its natural patina. It is a matter of taste: bright and luminous, or warm and vintage, both are beautiful.

All our pieces, like the Signature set, are designed to last with this simple care.
